welcome to The Urban Learning Academy (ULA)

Enable Empower Transform

We are an alliance of interconnected organisations facilitating community-based adult learning in accessible locations, empowering and transforming the lives of those who face the greatest challenges in connecting and engaging.

We collaborate to offer diverse avenues for adults to access learning - at times and in places that suit their needs and agendas - not ours. Together, we strive toward the vision of establishing a sustainable and inclusive ULA that provides a hybrid and accessible approach to learning, supporting the Exeter community.

The ULA was founded by CoLab, Exeter College, Exeter City Council, and Devon County Council, and has since grown to include Exeter City Community Trust and the University of Exeter, forming an agile and innovative alliance. We work with a values-led, aspirational approach to collaborative working, valuing difference; respect; reciprocity; honesty and ensuring all voices are being heard.

As an alliance and learning partnership, we continue to nurture and grow our offer of learning opportunities in Exeter. We are committed to delivering community learning programmes throughout the year, including a Spring/Summer and an Autumn/Winter programme. You can access these opportunities through our courses page.
